hmm...looking down at the intake from the front, i think you need to move the intake forward and to the right. picture #3 has a gap between the snorkel and the engine bay...shouldn't be a gap.

I installed mine today and I had to cut the hood. Check my album for pics.
Im lying on the bed and using the forum on my phone. Maybe I'll have to try to get some sleep now, good night

hmm good to hear that im not alone,
i had to cut my bonnet too.
and one of the screw couldnt go in as one of the holes for the top cover wasn't in line either.
and trust me my mechanic and I tried all ways and ended up spending many hours.
thankfully his labour charge wasn't thru the roof

mine fit fine with no issues. First installed it touched the hood, but I adjusted the piece you are referring to by pushing it down before tightening it down. You can try adjusting the hood latch a little bit also, but I didn't really adjust that much.
The biggest difference finally came when I adjusted the hood rubber stops. I raised them up on both sides to the highest they could go. (they are the two roundish rubber pieces on both sides under the hood near the radiator).
After that it closed perfect. You should also know that you can't use the factory hood prop, and that you will not be able to slam the hood shut anymore. You have to place it down on the latch and push it shut.
