Default Stock ecu vs JDM ECU

hey you guy i just got a used motor and i was wondering if i should used the stock ecu or the JDM one that came with the motor. Can anyone tell me the differences between the both of them

Guess nobody knows. I can't imagine you would have any issues except maybe smogging it. I would run it and see.

You would have to use the keys and ignition from the jdm one wouldnt you?

Whats the difference in them anywho?

is it an f20 or f22? i think japan eventually got the f22 later, whereas europe kept the f20 until now. i assume yours is an f20?

since the jdm motor makes a touch more hp due to a little more compression, i would think you should stick to using the jdm ecu that 'should' be tuned to that motor. the mapping on a usdm f20c ecu could be slightly tamer since our motors have a bit less compression. not suer if this is 100% tho but makes sense to me. you also may run into hvac issues, etc. too - u never know, but could always try a usdm ecu on the motor, may work fine.

JDM ecu = no immobilizer and tuned for higher comp ratio

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

^^^ Sounds about right.

It may not have all of the emissions control like ours do also. But I dont know.
