Default Tein S-tech & J's racing

So how can you tell if the teins you bought were knock off or the real deal? Or you can't at all?

Also how can you tell if the hood of the J's racing is real or a knock off? The Type V hood.

Somone said there should be a gold badge on the underside or a silver ? Is that true? And when i saw the hood. It had like what appeared to be scratch marks on it. Couldn't rub it off or anything. What he told me was that becuase of the engine and how the heat made those marks? TRUE? i don't think it was true but it could be? Let me know if you guys know anything about stuff like this

The hood is CFRP version.

Thanks

David

With the Hood CF versions the weave on the J's should be smaller/tighter if the weave is larger it is a VIS/Seibon/etc.

If you want to know for sure ONLY buy from people you know/trust or buy new from one of the many vendors on this site. I have seen lots of poeple get screwed thinking they were buying authentic parts only to find out later they were replicas

J's uses 1x1 weave. The weave color is lighter than the Seibon/VIS. The Seibon uses a 2x2, its darker & looks thicker, as if there is a ton of gel coat/resein used.

Also, if you look at the J's version 1 hood, they do not run the grill for the cut out, Seibon does. Not sure if this is the case for all J's version 1 hoods, but my J's doesn't have it.

Ok i get the weave stuff...but all i really wanna know is can the heat from the engine cause any damage to the hood? LIke would the heat make marks on the hood? Thats all i really wanna know. The hood is CFRP. Cuase theres like marks on the hood and the dude told me it was from the heat of the engine. Can that be possible?

who's the dude?

From what I can see on the one on my car, I can see no discolouration.

If it were to "discolour", it'd also probably warp, since the heat affects the resin a lot more than it would just change the colour.
