TracySports header (2.2 liter version)
Fuji Legalis R exhuast
Max HP gain was 8.5@6050 rpm
Peak HP gain was 4@8400 rpm
Max TQ gain was 6.5@6800 rpm
Peak TQ gain was 4.5@ 6800 rpm
Strange dip at 7000 rpm, any ideas about this? The A/F sensor was busted, so I couldn't see if that was the issue.
All of the guys at Autowave commented on how nice the welds and construction were on the Tracysports Header. However, the O2 sensor bung is in a bad location. We had to run the wires over the header and secure them with zip ties to a bracket. I have wrapped the wires with heat shielding to protect them, but this obviously bad location surprised me. To sum up the header, the mechanic (Michael) said, "Beautiful piece, but whoever put the bungs on it must have been smoking crack that day."
Overall, I am really pleased and the butt dyno says much better. Plus, it sounds incredible, love this exhaust.
It's really tough to say what's going on around 7000 rpm w/o an AFR plot, but aside from a possible fat fuel curve right there, it may be a resonance point from your intake, header, exhaust...who knows. I've got one as well, right at 5600 rpm (see red dyno plot in sig), that simply couldn't be fixed...we tried messing with the fuel map, the timing map, you name it. We finally just blamed a resonance point in the ITB's...that's about all you can do sometimes.
i think i may already have mentioned this in the header thread but i'm in the process of translating a dyno comparison between the tracy sports and j's that i got from japan.
the big thing that i noticed from this is that the dynos were actually done by a 3rd party, autobacs, so there should be minimal bias even though the test was sponsored by tracy sports.
the exhaust they used was the hks, and let me say i'm a little blown away by the numbers and truthfully and trying to get myself prepared for the flaming when you see the dyno charts...but lets just say the tracy sports blew away the j's. one of the reasons that was cited by tracy sports was the use of the hks exhaust and how it wasn't very beneficial to the j's design but was the perfect complement to tracy sport's.
i hope to have it finished by the end of the week for posting, i want to be certain that all of the technical information in it is translated correctly so i don't look like an ass
