SM - 2009?

I still have not really looked all that hard for a car. I don't want some backmarker beater. Ideally i need to find one with a pro built motor otherwise you are midpack no matter how much skilz yo gots (making excuses for my future failures already.. )
Are you looking at SM for next year? I think it's a good field since you do W2W racing. I still haven't made up my mind about whether I should build up the E36 or get a SM. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

E36
Pros: Street-legal, won't need a trailer, faster than a SM, can take time and money to build up the car, will be competitive in TTD, there are more drivers in TTD than TTE (where the SM would run), can keep the S, etc.

Cons: Will take more time and money to build up the car.

SM
Pros: Already built - less time and money overall, a big field for W2W racing, etc.

Cons: Much more money up front, will need a trailer since it's not street legal, slower than an E36, less drivers in TTE compared to TTD, not as competitive in TTD, will definitely have to sell the S to get a SM+trailer+storage place, etc.

If you're looking for a SM with a pro motor, there's one for sale in CA. He's willing to ship - $13.5k asking price.

Go with a SM, it's easier/cheaper, and you'll probably want a trailer eventually anyway with the E36.

idk, as much as i like the agility, cheapness to run, people who track this cars, i just dont see my self racing with 50 other cars at the same time. chances are you going to hit or get hit pretty often in w2w with miata's. and dispite how cheap it is to run the car, its not cheap at all to win in a miata. because there are SOOO many of them, this owners will spend anything to get that .0000000000001 out of them.

which is in fact were certain "spec" classes fail.

i'll take a field of 20/25 cars over 40+ any day.
but thats just me.

All 3 of us had our personal bests by quite a bit. I think George netted his best time, too. The four of us received plaques for our efforts.
