I bought my car in January and it came equipped with Riken Raptors. I have read both positive and negative reviews. Right now I am just looking to try autocross so I can safely learn the limits of the car.

Will I be OK with the Rikens? I don't want to drop money on new tires.

Apparently BMW is using the Parking lot for the course....not the oval. I've never even heard of Riken tires.

They are a cheap Z rated tire put out by Michellin.

Best investment you can make in autocross........good tires. If you have the funds I would switch to a proper 140-200 treadwear summer tire.

You'll definitely still have fun, but if you're worried about your time, they'll probably slow you down a bit vs the folks with good performance tires.

I wouldn't worry about it if it's your first time though. Come out and have some fun figuring out what your car can do.

From my understanding....they run separate AM and PM sessions (you chose 1).
Yup. They seem to have fewer runs (4 runs whenever I've gone) than some of the other groups, but you do spend less time sitting around, so that's a plus.

^Looking over the results....seems to be a ~5 run or so average. That's not terrible for a single session group....roughly the same as PCA.

Any autoxers interested in trying out an HPDE at the track? Mercedes is running in a 1 day HPDE on the Jefferson circuit for $150. Mercedes will be running this on April 30th (Saturday).

The Jefferson circuit is the smallest circuit at Summit Point. It is 1.1 mile circuit with 7 turns, essentially a really large, long autoX! Great way to try transition from autoX to track.

All beginner or novice track drivers will have in car instructor and you can expect about 1.5 hours of actual track seat time. The price is SIGNIFICANTLY less than the typical cost for a DE.

We are expecting about ~10 S2000s and will get a reserved paddock area set aside just for our cars.

PM me if interested.
