Finally got to my first autocross in my new s2000. Was at blue crab stadium in a boosted yellow ap1 on a friends rpf1's. Was co-driving with an old buddy from UMD- we both did FSAE there. Let's just say the Formula car was a little easier to handle than my s...

I will be the first to say that it is too much power for me personally to put to the ground properly. Turbo was already installed when I purchased the car; I wish I could have driven it stock first to see the difference. Looking forward to attending some more events and improving my skills
Cool. Cumberland has an event both Saturday and Sunday. Look up myautoevents.com and you will see Cumberland Airport Series this weekend. It can be little point-and-shootis, so you might actually find good use for all that turbo power. Tires would likely help too though. Maybe get some Z1 Star Specs and as wide as you can get.. Maybe like 275s rear and 255s front on sufficiently wide wheels (at least 9" front and 10"+ rear.

Or some R-Compound tires.
Yep- was actually running on 215's all around, definitely need more tire:

The thing is that it is my daily as well, so I don't think I'm ready to commit to a set of dedicated track tires at the moment. Still have some decisions to make in that regard. I'll look into the Cumberland events. Thanks for that.

FYI, If you are boosted you should be in SSM, not SM. Always good to see another S out there.

Yep, found that out at the event. Thanks for the heads up though!

Hey, welcome to our sport. Not sure I met you out there, I'll make sure I say hi next time. I'm a terps alum as well, and I think nlink is too? I was in the black m3 vert in the morning and the gray s2000 in the afternoon.

I should apologize for not being available to instruct on your last run. We had to shuffle some people around and I was asked to take over the announcers position. Hopefully you ended the day on a positive note, I didn't see any spinning on your last run.

Me and the missus brought two cars, the usual Miata and the former Justin Neal CRX. I wasn't sure what to expect from the CRX but it was fairly close to the Miata's times though Kate was beating me. I finally got to swap cars for the third run in the afternoon and realize just how down on power the CRX is. When I drove off from the start in the Miata you can hear me say "WHOA" - anything that makes a Miata feel surprisingly fast in a straight line must be really SLOW.

No worries- I appreciate you help regardless. You must not have been looking hard enough if you didn't see the spin on my last run . Like you mentioned to me, I really just need to tone it back a little bit and get off the gas and brakes some. I just need to get out there and get some more time driving under my belt...

I might have if they were valved for stiffer springs.

I should be buying a set of re-valved Koni singles within a few months. Can't wait to have suspension and a shot at some of the faster guys.

I think there is a good chance I'll be selling the STI and looking for another S2000 that I can build to actually be 100% STR legal. Hoping to find one with that's bone stock that still has a convertible top and fenders that are untouched. First mod will be nice suspension No definite there but I'm really learning towards it. Shouldn't have sold the last one

Mine would qualify once I put the soft top back in, but I assume you want an AP2?
