In other news, I'll proudly be running Cale's hardtop. We've banged out a bunch of the dents and should be able to get it reasonably good looking with body filler and a repaint. We've made a lexan window for it and pretty much cut out the interior reinforcements so it fits over the cage. It will not look perfect, but it beats sacrificing a $3300 top. Plus, I like to think he'd be happy with his top finally going racing.
Very Cool

Had a great time this weekend. My instructor cleared me last session to run solo which was my first track experience alone. It was a little more pressure having the responsibility of controlling my car and looking out for others but not having another life to worry about in the passenger seat was liberating and it was defintely my favorite session. It was good seeing david, oleg, mani, orlando, pete, jim, aaron, clyde and allison out there...unfortunately I still did not get to meet robrob. Oh well. Now back to reality!

It appeared to work well, it certainly was very stiff. Not sure aero stuff works as much on Shenandoah since the course is fairly slow.

Even if it wasn't functional, atleast it looked good.

The splitter worked well. In order for it to be functional it just has to stick out past the bumper.
The material was robust, it survived a couple of curbing incidents and one off excursion. Therefore I declare it a success. I do have a couple of upgrades in mind for it though.

I have enough material to make a second splitter. I can have it stick out further than mine if preferred. I just wanted to go by the restrictions that Rob mentioned. Let me know who is interested. Matt, you have dibs on the one I can make out of the material that I have left over. For more people I'd have to order some more.

I would post pictures of it, but I'm at a conference for work and really busy with stuff.

P.S. I had a blast this weekend regardless all the issues I've encountered.
First off, those 255 Advan A048 (?) were really wide so I had to do an emergency rolling and raised the car a bit. Turned out those tires were dated 2004....needless to say that ensured a lot of sliding. I did like the sliding though, it made me feel a lot more comfortable with loosing and gaining control in my car. I'll post some videos....you guys will love it.

The next great thing that happened was oil filter working itself loose and me dumping 3 quarts of oil on the track and all over the engine bay and underside of the car. It was scary though, I seriously thought that I blew my engine. All that white smoke in the rear mirror, inside the car, and from under the hood...it was something... New filter, some oil, and five brake clean cans later I was ready to go back in

On the other hand, I got my DL1 data logger to work, plus I got GoProHD2 for the front video and used Zi8 for the rear. So after I'm done formatting, some very nice videos will be seen

Right before the last session I discovered that one of my engine mounts was completely ripped off, so I threw in a glove and called it a day.
It was awesome to see all of you guys there, I forgot how much fun it was to hang out with friends at the track!

Future plans:
New engine mounts (suggestions?)
Minor splitter modifications
Clamp on contraption to ensure that the filter doesn't come loose again
New tires (for both CR wheels and RPF1s) (maybe I'll keep the Advans just so I can slide around more )
Corner balancing and alignment
