Got my front bumper pulled off so I can try this brake ducting. It seems fairly straightforward, but the AP2 ducts design would be a little bit more difficult than the AP1 foglight covers for drilling a hole and attaching a flange. I was considering attaching a duct such as this on the inside of the bumper behind the plastic support and running the ducting through the same place in the fender liner as Rob, but I think the hose may be snaked/kinked too much. What do you guys think?

Something like this if you can see it from my Picasso artwork
Sorry I don't have any pictures of my setup, but I ended up ordering a pair of these:

I had to do a lot of cutting/trimming of the front bumper faux inlets as well as these brake ducts. I ended up mounting my air pump lower by buying a metal brace from Lowes and modified the pump relay bracket. I ran the hose through the triangular brace and as far as I know, it doesn't interfere with the air pump or anything like that.
Ah thanks. Do you have an AP1 or AP2? I also considered moving the air pump, but decided I didn't want to mess with all that. How hard was that? And is the triangular brace wide enough to run hose through it without constricting it?

Btw, my name is Kevin. Appreciate the link.

Nice man! I got a Bosch one but haven't had a chance to test it out much...just got some sockets for it the other night. How much did that run you? I heard Snap-On is really good. Is it the pin type or friction ring type?

Btw, I am Kevin. I didn't see you post much in the last year's thread so I don't think I ever caught your name..

does the splitter compared to no splitter add stability?
I can't say for sure but I believe a 2 or 3 inch splitter is beneficial for balancing the down force of the wing. It would be an interesting experiment to run with and without the splitter on the same day to see for sure.

Nice to meet you. My name is James. The reason why I didn't post much last year is because my car was down but I plan on making up the lost time this season. But the gun costs me 40 bucks a week lol I'm a mechanic so I have an account with my snap-on dealer. But the gun costs around $480. And has 600ft/lbs of tq. Not to sure what you mean but I think you're talking about what holds the socket on the gun it's a ring. But yes in my opinion snap-on is one of the best tool manufactures if I see you at the track you can give it a go.

Damn 600ft/lbs is impressive for a cordless, I think my dewalt only does like 350, which is good enough for lugs.

Yes it would be interesting. I would like to try and gather actual data for any of my modifications I do. For example, with the brake ducting, I would like to get an infrared therm to measure temp differences with them open and with them blocked off. Obviously adding them seems to make a difference because everyone who does them say their rotors and pads last longer, but it would be nice to get more concrete numbers.

Yeah, I didn't get to go but a couple times last year but hopefully I get out several more times this year. $40 bucks a week?? That adds up quick...within 3 months you could own one at that rate lol. I used the holiday shopping deals to get a bare impact wrench, impact driver, drill, and two Li-Ion batteries for $360, so I feel I got a pretty good deal considering the impact wrench with only one battery is $445 on Amazon right now! 600 feet is a lot...the Bosch I have is rated at 500.

This is the ring

And the pin

Sorry for the big pictures. The ring is supposed to make for faster and easier socket changes, but it definitely takes a lot of wiggling and pushing to get them on there! The Milwaukee site said something about allowing for one-handed socket changes, but it definitely takes me both hands.

I don't think brake ducts extend the life of brake rotors. They seem to crack at the same rate but the pads definitely last longer.
