Im new to the whole Maryland area myself, and I just went to Aberdeen this friday and I liked it. You have to take into account that im from a beach town, so all of this is new to me, but it seemed like a quite nice place to live in..... so here is a cali surfers approval

 

Aberdeen is a nice up & coming area. Housing there is starting to get expensive, with newer communities already being expensive.

Ghetto? Well, there are areas, but mainly white ghettos I don't like White Marsh area though since it has gone downhill since the mall and the avenue became more popular and they started to overpopulate the area with lower priced townhomes a while ago. Bel-air/abingdon areas are better especially for the aberdeen area, but then again it depends on her price range.

If she's hot and single, I've got a place for her in Owings Mills, but it's about 45 mins to Aberdeen

Also check out Havre de Grace - some nice neighborhoods, very pretty scenery, and a little artiste flavor of Sausalito east. Aberdeen is less than an hour from Philly - lots of cool stuff in west Philadelphia. I have worked in the Aberdeen area for the last 8 years - commute from PA. I think it has much more to offer than the Ft Monmouth area.
