Default Anyone have J's Racing intake in NoVA?

I'm contemplating getting an intake for the S2k and the J's Racing Carbon fiber intake is on the list. I understand this intake requires a slight modification to the underside of the hood, yet I canoot find out exactly WHAT that mod is. I have asked other forum members and received nothing but cryptic answers 'yes you need to modify hood'. OOKKK.

Anyway, I'd like to know if anyone in the NoVA area (i.e. Reston, Loudoun, Chantilly, etc) has this intake and would be willing to elaborate on what the installation is like, plus any performance tidbits of interest.

If you happen to own an intake other than the J's Racing (i.e. CompTech, Mugen, K&N) and would like to throw your $.02 in that is cool.

thanks in advance,
Chris

which j's intake are you thinking about getting?? there are two different ones.... there is the snorkle (similar to the spoon, mugen) that just connects to your existing intake box.. and there's the other one which is a full intake system. (picture below)

as far as i know, only the snorkle requires modification to the hood, the full intake system does not require it.... the modification is just shaving off a little piece under the hood to allow the snorkle to clear the hood...

the top left.. you see the part thats not completely straight... thats what you have to shave a little...

Im talking about the comlete intake. Which I thought included the snorkel? Isn't that what the oddly shaped 'tunnel' is that looks like a roller coaster hill?

I was under the impression that the Snorkel by itself required mod to the hood and the full intake system included the snorkel, therfore requires mod to the hood.

Thanks for the information.

Hey Chris,

you need to trim the inside of the hood to clear the intake.

Check out this thread...it shows you where to cut.

Just a side note...

J's Makes 3 intakes for the S2000....

1. The "Tsuchinoko" Intake (the duct, filter, and replacement airbox with the buldge)
2. Carbon Intake Duct for Type - V hood
3. Carbon Intake Duct

You would have to cut the factory (or an aftermarket hood other than J's or Mugen) for options 1 & 2, but option 3 you can use with your hood without modification (it's essentially a regular carbon version of the Spoon carbon kevlar duct).
