Atlanta to VA
with MsPerkyIt took my roommates and I quite a bit of time scouring craigslist, ads in the post, and anything else we could get our hands on to find a place in courthouse/rosslyn with a decent price and location. And even then, it came down to who showed up at the open house first - and we got here 45 mins early, and barely beat the next group.
That said, good luck
I'm sure you'll like it here..
I just got back from D.C . After going through 5 hours of interview (5 different people) I have accepted the position and I will be moving to VA in the 2nd week of June from Atlanta.
I will be working in Crystal city area and my wife will be working by Dulles Airport. So, I need to find an apartment somewhere in between. Maybe Fairfax area???
My work hours will be 11am to 10pm weekdays or 7am to 6pm weekends. My wife will be working from 8am to 6pm monday thorugh friday.
what area do you think would work best for both of us as far as traffic etc.???
we are looking for a 1 bedroom apartment in $1000-1100 range.

Congratulations! I agree that somewhere in between is good, even though you will have a much easier commute with those working hours. For that reason, you may want to locate closer to Dulles for her. Fairfax seems reasonable. Some peeps out that way can help you, I'm sure. Good luck!
You'll find what you are looking for in your price range here. My girlfriend leases here and you really can't ask for a cleaner/quieter neighborhood for this price. I have parked my car on the street when I visit without incident for almost 2 years now. *knock on wood*
