Default Automatic Garage Door Openers...

Saturday...

Well, spent better part of day installing 1 of 2 garage door openers. Not bad...works perfectly. Sunday I'll install the other one.

Two humorous points for ya:

1. These were gimmies never opened...so beggars can't be choosers -- These are designed for doors 7' 6" in height... My doors are 8' in height. Now, this isn't any issue for my Stook or my 'Wing....however, my wife's Dodge Ram 4x4 might prove to be another issue...

2. This is soo sad, its funny -- I plugged the 1st installed garage door opener into the nearby ceiling light socket (has one of those "screw in-between" pieces that allows you to plug stuff in but also allows you to screw a light bulb into *that* screwed in piece)... So, what's the problem? Well, if you've already caught on...it dawned on me that if I turn my lights off in the garage (as I'm want to do when I leave the garage) I effectively cut current to the...say it with me...A-U-T-O-M-A-T-I-C garage door opener. No juice, no joy!

So, tomorrow -- along with installing the 2nd garage door opener, I'm going to run some direct hot current to the openers as well. And just as well, cuz I've been meaning to install some more power outlets here & there in the garage too. This gives me an excuse to buy the materials and get on with that project as well.

Anyway, I'm happy. Just thought I'd share...

Is the light socket wired with NM-B 12-2 w/ ground or is it wired with 12-3. I f it's the latter you already have what you need. Just some selective wiring in the switch box and the junction box above the lamp fixture.
