Ben and the Daisy Import Auto Team are Amazing
I’m writing this post to discuss my excellent experience with Ben and the rest of the Daisy Import Auto team.
I recently bought my first 2007 S2K with 120k on the odometer. I bought it from the first owner who claimed there was nothing wrong with it. Even before I bought it, I had heard about Ben and planned to take it to him to have it checked out. After I bought the car and took it on a short trip, I noticed some strange things with the engine and the performance.
Upon arriving at Daisy, I knew I was at the right place with S2Ks and NSXs littered inside and outside the shop. Ben greeted me and put the car up on the lift right away. He immediately identified issues with the clutch bearing and the noises coming from the engine bay. He gave it a thorough look with his flashlight and told me he'd get back to me. I left the car with him and he texted me later telling me that the cylinder head was warped bad and the car was losing compression.
I had known that the car wasn’t going to be perfect, but I didn’t expect the damage to be that bad. Ben explained to me the work that would be required and sent over a detailed statement of the work that needed to be performed. He set my expectations from the very beginning and kept me updated as the work was completed by him and his team at Dasiy and by the guys at the machine shop where he sent the cylinder head. When I finally got the car back (the cylinder head was really, really bad so it took a while at the machine shop) it purred like new. The power delivery was perfectly smooth, and it drove exactly how I imagined an S2K to drive. I had the engine mounts replaced, as well as new head studs. Ben also overhauled the cooling system on the car and replaced the original clutch and bearing. Ben practically brought this car back from the dead.
Ben and his team are top notch. They provide great service at competitive prices (this is my first S2K but not my first car, I’ve dealt with my fair share of shops) and their communication is excellent. I highly recommend Ben to anyone with an S2K, NSX or any automobile.
Pics of the engine bay with the re-machined head and the rest of the car coming soon, just waiting for a nice day when I can get my friend to come to take some quality pics.
