I have been a fan of the S2000 since seeing a "Peak Sneek" in Car & Driver before the vehicle was released. Since then, I have spent time just reading articles, sitting in the vehicle at the car show, and drooling at everyone I see on the street. Since my entire budget is going towards my wedding in September, 2002, I have just thought my own S2000 is a dream.

Well, I made a huge mistake in telling myself that an S2000 was only a dream yesterday. I have spent the last few months reading posting on this website, wishing I could attend your rally's and autocrosses. I have built a relationship with a salesman at O'Donnell Honda on Rt. 40 in Ellicott City, MD who said I could drive an S2000 when he had one on the lot.

Everytime I went by, the S2000 on the lot was either sold or the seats had been stolen out of the car, until yesterday.

There were 2 on the lot, a 2002 Yellow, new, and a used Blue S2000. I thought, at least I could drive the used car. Went in, the salesman was available, and so was the new Yellow S2000.

I sit down in the black leather and feel the bolstering wrap around my body. The salesman asks, "Do you want the top down"? I responded, "Are you joking? It's 83 and sunny, Hell Yes!" He shows me how to put the top down. He tells me to go ahead and start it up. I turn the key. Nothing happens. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time that I forgot about the "START ENGINE" button. I feel like a fool, but no sweat, the engine ROARS to life. By now, I'm trying to control my shaking.

As we pull out onto Rt. 40 towards Rt. 29. He tells me, "Lets take it out on the highway." Then he looks over at me and says, "You know this car has no low-end torque, so don't be afraid to wind it out". Ok, there is the open door to red-line and adrenaline. Lights turns green, turn the corner, shift into 2nd, look at tachometer about the same time I hit the red-line and the rev limiter kicks in. Oops, "Sorry about that". "No problem", he replies. Get on Rt. 29, still excited and shaking, but enjoying every second, hoping it will never end, but know that it will. To make an amazing story shorter, the rest of the ride went fine. Passed a Corvette on Rt. 29, driver waves.

WOW, what an awesome car. Everyone on this list who owns one of these cars is a lucky and blessed person. I talked with my salesman and the wife to be. The ruling by the fiancee is that as long as all of the wedding and credit cards are paid off, I can buy my own. I should be sitting in my own about this time next year!

Thanks for letting me live through all of you, until next year, then I'll join you!

By the way, Spa Yellow, is what I will be ordering.

Thanks for listening,
Don Miller

Congratulations on your impending wedding! Looks like you've got your priorities straight, and a future wife who's understanding! A winning combination!

Your first year of marriage will fly - trust me (I'm starting on year 12 week after next) - and before you know it, you'll have your S2K!

Once again, congratulations!

Don : thanks for sharing your experience with us. It was like that for me too! The S2000 is a wonderful car, and I'm greatful I owned one!

Also glad to hear you have your priorities straight, and are one of the smart ones with self-control and restraint in not buying something though you can afford it I'm trying to teach myself this

P.S. Glad you also have figured out the best color

Yeah, I think the dates on the cars had to be backwards.

And if you *REALLY* kicked in the rev limiter on a brand new unbroken-in S2000, then please tell us what the VIN# is so we can avoid buying it

Anyway, welcome to the club in advance!
