Default Bondo... ???

Not BONDAGE!!

I noticed yesterday that my wonderful Spugen (amuse style) lip has a nice crack in it. I know it was from last Sat when I misjudged a cement parking block. It's only noticable when you are looking for it, but i'd like to try to cover it up/stop it from getting worse.

I don't know much about bondo, but I was wondering if i could use this to basically fill in the crack and then paint over it with some touchup paint.

It's obviously not worth spending the money to get it professionally fixed, if I did that, I would probably just have it molded to the front bumper at the same time (plus I don't even know a shop that does that kind of stuff).

Any help (hints or hands on) would be appreciated!

TIA!

Is the lip fiberglass or urethane?

It's fiberglass. I spoke to a couple of people who feel that the crack isn't that bad, but if I do want to fix it, I should use fiberglass and forget about bondo. I'm going to do some research into fiberglass and see if I can fix it myself (or with some help ). If not, then I'll just enjoy it until it falls apart

well, I have some fiberglass skills so I'll help you with it if you want. I'd have to look at it but you would probably need fiberglass filler and a piece of chopped strand mat on the back to add some strength. I'll look at it this weekend if you are still going up. btw you missed a hell of a fishing trip. Caught 20 bluefish all over 4 lbs.

I forgot to borrow my friend's digicam yesterday to take an upclose picture of it, I'll try to do that in the next day or two.

Home Depot sells fiberglass near the paint department I believe. Just buy the mat and epoxy and follow the directions closely.

Also, make sure you wear rubber gloves because this stuff will mess your skin up bad. And make sure it's warm day or the resin won't cure properly. Good luck!

Thanks John, Is it ok if I do it inside? I live in an apartment, I don't really feel like sitting outside messing around in the parking lot. I'll take a picture of it tomorrow when I borrow my friend's cam.
