Default Brake caliper sticking

My right rear caliper is sticking, just noticed it today after i took a nice afternoon ride (top down of course). After stopping i noticed a smell coming from the right side of the car. As I investigated the smell I walked around the right rear wheel and felt a great amount of heat coming from the wheel. I looked at brake pad and saw it looks like half of the pad (which I replaced about a year ago), had deteriorated. for about a week I have noticed the smell but hadn't payed too much attention to it. I was just wondering if any one knew what it could be.

Thanks for the help, Mike.

More than likely the caliper is going bad. I've sold at least 5 S2000 calipers in the past 2 months. It's always the right rear for some reason. The last two people have changed both just to have a matching pair.

Honda calipers freeze up like crazy. Your best bet is to get a new one and avoid using the parking brake. Leave the car in gear when stopped and only use the parking brake if you have to. The caliper has the parking brake integrated into it and freezes much more often than a normal brake caliper. I have owned 5 different hondas and all but one of them have had atleast one rear caliper freeze up. Hope that helps.

thanks for the help everyone. The brakes aren't going out, but I can feel it rubbing while driving. Where do I get new calipers for it? and should I go after market?

This happened to my cousins M3. You have to get new calipers, and bleed the brakes, completely. Worst case scenario, you have to manually bleed them, if the universal pressure thing does not work.

Also, stick with Honda.

Honda ones are 2 times the price, unless you know somebody. After market ones are just rebuilt Honda ones.

I've sold a bunch of the rebuilt ones, and haven't had a problem yet. The Honda ones take a few days to get, where you can get the after market ones in a day or so. Either way, they come with the caliper bracket as well.

caliper rebuild time

check your piston for rusts, you might have you replace that as well.
