As many others have said, I am absolutely speechless. I haven't been online the past couple days and I just came across this thread and spent the last hour reading through all of the posts. Through some smiles, there are definitely tears.
Cale was one of the first people I met in the Mid-A and he was more than welcoming. I never got to seem him on the track, but his reputation spoke for itself.
I will never forget the Mod Day at Steve's house and having Cale come up and ask if I wanted help with my brake change. Before I could say "Yes" he had the car jacked up and was taking one of the wheels off
Here he is helping with the infamous "Lambo Horn" install that day:
It's a shame that I didn't get to know him as well as some of the rest of you.
It goes without saying, Cale was an amazing individual and will be missed greatly.
My prayers go out to his friends and family.
Cale, you touched the lives of so many people. Godspeed, and congrats on the win!!
thank-you so much for all these lovely posts about cale. i'm cale's dad and now i'm at cale's house with many of his friends and family. a member of this forum has allowed me to post as i was reading this about cale. i first learned of this on sunday night when i got a call at my home in illinois. reading these many loving posts has helped me try and understand this. cale always loved cars. i have a 72 cutlass and when cale was a little boy he always wanted me to "erk out" when i started from a stop sign. that was his word for peeling out and getting some rubber. so i changed my license plate to erker72. i was shocked, grief struck, and then angry at this accident, but the more i read, the more i see that cale was doing what he truly loved. he was truly a remarkable young man and his family and friends were very fortunate to have him for the short time he was here. i prayed that i could have taken his place, because he deserved to live to my age and far beyond. but it was not to be. but i know that he is still with us and he always will be with us.

I'm glad you've read all these, and I'm glad we've all been able to share some of our favorite times with Cale. It means a lot to me, and I'm sure to the rest of us as well, that our good times with Cale can help you with the grieving process.
Cale mentioned you several times in conversation. He was amazed at your speed at the NASA Nationals in your lightly modified S2000. He was looking forward to the challenge next year.
its just all so shocking to me, its sad to say it but i can't understand why nasa hasn't been really hard with safety equipment for all the TT guys. they dont even require a racing suit. just pants and a tee shirt. And i have never understood why if the TT guys drive just as hard if not harder then some of the racers, yet so little safety.
I had planned on putting a bar and harness in so i can run a hans, for next season. but thats not goin to happen now.
I hope to meet some of his friends at wake the dragon in 09.

Even with all the chaos that was the mod day at the house, include the infamous "lambo horn" install, Cale found out that my daughter (then 13 yrs) had an interest in flying, in being a pilot.
Cale took the time to sit down and chat with Meg about his experiences in the cockpit and pilot's seat. Thinking of that kind of genorosity...to spend some time with a kid with a similar aspirations in the middle of a very busy mod day, just brings tears to my eyes.
Meg still has the interest in flying. I'd like to think its due in some small part perhaps in what Cale and She spoke of that day.
I was at Summit this past weekend running HPDE. I am deeply saddened by this tragic accident. I did not have the priviledge to meet Cale and I definitely have missed out by not getting to know him. Cale will certainly be missed by many. My condolences to Cale's family.
