cale wasn't afraid of anything. when he was about 10 or so we went to this street festival in springfield, illinois. a live band was playing and cale got right up and started dancing with all these people twice his size. somebody even knocked him down and he got right back up and kept dancing. then later when he was a teenager, he jumped off of this huge cliff into a lake in missouri. then another time we were skiing on the illinois river. the illinois is not very wide there and barges go up and down it. the trouble is, the barges take up most of the river when they go by. but cale wanted to ski when the barge was going by. he said, "gimme some of that barge." cale was a very excellent water skier. in fact, i thought at one time that he might become a professional water skier. however, he decided that he wanted to be a pilot and go to school in florida at embry riddle. the school is very close to the daytona race track. possibly that's where he started his love of racing, i'm not really sure. but he always loved cars, even when he was a very little boy.
