Smile Car broken into in Burke

Hey all,

Today I walked out to my car at around 10 AM to head to class. I noticed my viper alarm was not working when I hit unlock. When I got to my car, the first thing I noticed were my doors, as they were barely popped open, maybe 1/4 inch. I was in shock as I looked at my top, which was slit down the middle. I opened the driver door, as there was some glare on the window, and then saw this... They stole both seats, all my cds, a few DVDs, my shift knob, antenna, tried to steal my radio, as the faceplate was sitting on the floor, and the radio is slightly skewed. Before you ask, no, I do not live in a particularly crappy area, this is in the middle of Burke, off burke commons road. Thieves will come to you no matter where you live. When I lived in woodbridge, I had someone steal the OEM wheels off my civic Si. The worst part is that I did not have my Viper 791 Alarm armed. The alarm was tuned way too sensitive, and it would go off every 10 minutes. I was going to have my friend adjust it down on wednesday - how Ironic.

Bottom line - I want to find these mother f-ers. So if anyone sees these parts for sale on ebay, hondatech, wherever, please let me know. I called the Honda dealership and they said the older s2000 seats do not have serial numbers, so just any black S2000 seats, let me know. Also, if someone in your area all of a sudden has some s2000 seats, let me know. You can't have anything nice around here anymore, unless you have a garage, and even then you have to be careful. Any help would be appreciated guys. Thanks,

-Stefan

Man, I can't imagine how pissed you must be but it effin pisses me off to see this kinda crap. It could've happened to almost any one of us, myself included. I just bought seat locks about a month ago, but that won't stop anyone from slashing my top and stealing other shyte.

Instead of seat locks, I should have bought a couple grenades and tied them to the bottom of my seats just to get these bastards!

Sorry for the loss, but I wish you luck on getting things straight.

Thanks man, it just bums you out a little bit to have this happen. I almost don't know if I want to keep modding it, for fear of having this happen again. You can best believe, stock or not, after I get it back, it is getting locked DOWN. seat locks, get the alarm tuned correctly, wheel locks, etc. It makes me want to get a hardtop, but I really think I would miss the softtop for the summer months, and the thought of having to switch the hard top on and off is not appealing. I just don't know where to go with it at this point...

What road did you say this was? I'd like to go leave my car there overnight. New top + new seats = FTW.

You're insured right? Sucks about the deductible but you have a MY00... chances are good that the top and the seats were aging pretty bad by this point. Plus, you might can manage to get an MY02+ top as replacement (glass rear).

My seats and top were in perfect condition. You wouldn't think so from the pictures, but the car has 20,000 miles on it, and it was IMMACULATE. I am more pissed off from the inconvenience of it. Not to mention, I don't think that my insurance company (USAA) will pay for brand new seats. I haven't heard of many insurance companies doing that... they are supposedly like $6000 from the stealership. We will see, if they give me some used seats, I will FLIP OUT

wow, really hits close to home (since our cars are identical). was your car parked in front of your house, or did you park out on the street? I used to leave my car parked at my mom's house in Burke when I wasn't driving it, thinking it was safer than Chantilly. Guess not. I always park right under my window now, with the viper 791xv tuned to fully sensitive. no false alarms yet...

ps, to adjust sensitivity you just need a jeweler's screwdriver and the sensitivity unit is usually installed under the driver's side dash.
