Clearing Corners
Hi Guys,
I have the directions/s2ki thread from Ric's and that there have been a lot of threads on the topic here in s2ki, but I haven't seen answers to the following:
1. Once the lens is separated from the black housing, do you need to scrape or clean off any of the old glue?
2. If you get some of the glue where you don't want it to be, what can you use to safely get it off the plastic lens?
Any other recommendations or words of wisdom would also be appreciated.
Thanks!

1. Don't scrape off adhesive sealant...the two halves will "smooch" back together again, reheat, squish tight, relock clips...and then its just up to you to consider adding an additional bead of silicone sealant around the entire carcass to assure you never have to deal with moisture concerns
2. Short answer?...don't get the sealant where you don't want it to be
. There are too many delicates where you could remove paint, hurt clear plastic, etc. with an inappropriate cleansing agent (such as Goo-gone). Goo-gone type products will work, mind you...just that say items such your black insert and the chrome ring around the HID...those paints/applications can be stripped riiiiiiight off with such a harsh product
).3. You didn't ask...but you want to BAKE
Broil
. Or...sorry...lil' plug for me here
...consider driving down to my place and I'll do your conversion for you for $135

PS. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions...
When I do the clearing I personally try to remove as much of the old stuff as I can then use new sealant...I've heard problems with moisture getting in sometimes if you dont. I'm not doubting w1ngman...just stating my personal preference.

But on the other hand, *IF* one follows both steps (reuses existing sealant and also applies a supplemental bead of silicone sealant over the seam)...that mug is mucho-protected
But the effort to remove all that existing sealant (sealant that is very good!) is just a bit of a PITA all things being equal.
300+ conversions...none have failed my way
