Default Clutch Question

I'm going to be having the 1st/2nd gear popping out TSB performed on my car soon and I'm tossing around the idea of upgrading pressure plate, flywheel, etc. while the tranny is already dropped. For reference my car only has 21k miles on it and is NA. I know that upgrading would certainly prove beneficial if I go FI, but I'm not sure what the future might bring. Right now I'm looking at the HTG kit, but for a thousand dollars, I'm somewhat apprehensive.

I'd love to hear from anyone that's experienced driving with the ACT HD pressure plate or Comptech flywheel and whether you think that it's a noticeable/worthwhile upgrade for my application. I could definitely be convinced to upgrade if the overall opinion is that this setup would make driving more enjoyable.

Thanks

All I can say is its different from driving a stock honda clutch, you better work out your leg because once you press the pedal in, she wants to come back bad! I dont see any real hurt in upgrading if you plan on going FI sometime down the road

get a competition clutch and you won't have to worry about that problem. The clutch pedal feel is like stock.

ANY "HEAVY DUTY" pressure plate is NOT good for your motor.

A good clutch is designed to incrase gripping force THROUGH the clutch disc design, and NOT just enhancing the pressure plate pressure.

I have the HTG kit and hardly noticed any difference from stock as far as pedal pressure, but it sure grips nicely. Peter even said it felt stock when he drove it. I really love the kit because the lightweight flywheel keeps my RPMs where I want them. I'd let you drive it if you were local.

I think I'm confused by that....your website has clutch kits with "HEAVY DUTY" pressure plates....so are those bad too? Are you saying they are bad on all cars or just the S2000? Thanks for clearing it up if you get a chance!

Your website:

"Competition Clutch Stage 2 Clutch kits include heavy duty
pressure plate, full face performance disc, alignment tool,
release bearing and pilot bearing. This kit will support a
50-80 shot of nitrous and mild turbo applications."

"Competition Clutch Stage 4 Clutch kits include heavy duty pressure plate, heavy duty sprung hub 4 puck ceramic disc, alignment tool, release bearing and pilot bearing.
This kit will support 400-500hp with an aggressive engagement but by far the best bang for the buck!"

I have HTG clutch package as well. You'll be fine with it. Closest thing felt to stock for me yet can handle my 300+ rwhp all day.

I've driven Carlo's car, and can vouch for the fact that the clutch feel is nice.

Make sure your dealer is willing to do it. If you're getting warranty repair work done, chances are they're not going to be amenable to installing aftermarket parts during that job... At least not without you paying for the (otherwise free) labor.

He is comparing it to his stock clutched AP2 to clear things up.
