Default Cost of parking....

$325 dollars. $325 for a one nite stay at an impound lot... Needless to say I was frustrated. They only took cash and they were only open from 8-1 on Sunday so I couldn't pick her up when I found out she was towed! I felt so lonely! My poor S2000 was towed. From what the tow company said, she was put on a dolley. I inspected her all around and didn't find anything wrong... whew. The front end was on dolleys while the rear was jacked up. I don't like the idea of my car like that.

Why was I towed? Very little signs and the advice of a friend that said "parking shouldn't be a problem anymore." Live and learn. I hate assigned parking. I had a 3 day weekend coming up but it looks like Friday I will be working some overtime to recover from this unexpected blow.

Yea!! That's a rip!! I paid only $80 once (cash) when my then gf's car was towed because I told her to park in someone else's spot. Of course it was originally $120, but I spoke nicely to the guy.

Anyway, moral of the story is... that sucks. Sorry

is it true sometimes you can negotiate the price with tow-guys to get it out for a lil bit cheaper?

In that case it was. I mean, WTF are they doing? Getting a guy out there to tow a car and charging you $300+ for less than an hour and less than a gallon of gas? highway robbery!

Yeah, it sucks when towed.
Friend of mine told me this story. She's a professor at AU, and also an attorney, and this happened to her about a month ago.

Apparently, she envited her friend for dinner one night and told her friend to park anywhere b/c towing is not enfored until 11 pm. So, she did, and around 11 pm'ish, her friend decided to leave, then it happened...

There was a tow truck towing her car away, so my friend ran and stopped the tow truck guy and tried to reason w/ him. She then called the apt complex's front office, and they gave her the go-ahead. But the @sshole tow truck operator would not. He then further instructed the girls that if they wanted the car back, they had to go to the impound lot to retrieve it and they only take cash. $175 for impound/tow/process fee was expected.
She then saw a local DC cop and waived him down. So, she starts throwing legal lingo, but no go.
At the end, she ended up paying around $400 cash to have them release the car at the spot.
Worst news... She stated that the tow truck guy split the dough w/ the cop, and there was nothing she could do about it.

True story. I thought about visiting the tow place to repay them somehow, but she asked me not to.

Sorry about your tow. At least you didn't have to go through this ordeal.

yikes. that's a rough story LT. glad that didn't happen. didn't appreciate it getting towed but I can't totally blame them for anything other than not having enough signs up saying that parking was reserved. The car is perfectly fine though so I'm just out 325 bucks.
