Does this seem like a reasonable reason

Here is why:
Gain 600 by getting rid of the car.
Loose 500 by her ex getting rid of the alimony.
So, 600 - 500 = 100
100 - 1400 current rent = 1300
I am positive that in the current economy, ??? <<<<<<<<<<<< any mortgage for a house with the same space.
If I do this we wont be as strapped for cash if I dont do it.

Im active duty Navy. My shift varys greatly. Pete(Fish22) can attest to that. Me getting a second job is basically out of the question because my availablity is limited and I think all the Mid-A guys in the area that know me know this. We currently live paycheck to paycheck just so we can put a dent in some of the debt we have. This year didnt help because we had to replace both units for the HVAC shit in the house that we currently have. That was painful to the tune of 8000+ bucks. That was over a years worth of car payments. Then we had to get new front and back doors to the tune of 2500 bucks. Im looking at almost 2 years of car payments spent on fixing the house.
Melissa has taken a quasi second job selling tupperwear (if anyone wants to host a party in the HR area let me know (i know shameless plug)). She is currently going for her bachelors degree and Im going for my associates degree. Our time is valuable because there is always so much to do.
I am currently trying to enroll in the seaman to admiral program. If i happen to get accepted and make officer my paycheck will just about triple with all the allotments that officers get. If I get accepted into flight school I can bank even more. Once she gets her degree she can make roughly 60k+ and I can 60k+ as well. Then I could get my S2000 again.
Sorry for a long read I'm just laying all my cards on the table

He pretty muchs runs little creek let me know what you think
good or bad idea
Dude your reasons are more than valid regardless of what anyone says. A car is a car and you can grab another down the road, establishing a home is something far more meaningful.
The memories you make in a household with the one you love far outweigh the ones created by the s2k, even though I love my car, I love my wife and my house WAY more.
Good luck Rich

It sounds like you might have more options soon. That is what I would focus on. If you double or triple your income, you can afford the house and possibly keep the S.
Being able to do all those repairs in such a short time is a testament to your ability to make money and use it well. BE PATIENT and you WILL do well.

Currently we are able to afford the house even with my car payment and my girls car payment. We have been getting that extra 500 bucks a month for about a year now. Without it we will be strapped. Yes we can still afford to have everything we have now but it will be a lot tighter. My fiance works at Navy Federal and is a wiz with finances and stuff. She keeps a log book for all of it. If it were me we'd probably be screwed. We have a little money going into savings, a little going to pay off our debt, and we both get a little to play with. Our big concern is not being able to put some into savings and/or towards our debt. Thats where all this is is more or less coming from.
