Wink Dog adoption in VA

Just wondering if someone can recommend a place that is easy to adopt a dog at. So far every place I've seen are Nazis. They require these ridiculous applications, home visits, interviews, and even references. I swear to God it seems easier to have a baby than a friggin pet.

Just looking to go into a place, look at the dogs, and hopefully walk out with a dog without being interrogated. I understand paying for fees such as spay/neuter, that does not bother me.

Thanks.

Most places treat animal adoption just as they would trying to adopt a child...However...and don't quote me....I picked my dogs up from breeders...BUT...I think PetSmart and/or Petco have monthly adoption events. Check our each website they might be of better support..or atleast put you into the right direction.

I just picked up my little guy last weekend from the local animal shelter. 3 month old german short haired pointer. No hassles and came with all his shots and neutered. I suggest your local animal shelter/pound. Help the little guys in need rather than putting 500+ dollars into somebody's pocket.

Sometimes vets can make good recommendations for where to go.

Yes, please go to a shelter. I got one of my dogs from the Fairfax County shelter and she was the best dog ever.

Will have to agree that the shelter is the place to find them. Also, full bred dogs in general are about 10 times more likely to need to be taken to the Vet for expensive treatment for a condition/illness or injury.

I didn't really have a choice, my girlfriend is allergic to animal dander so I had a specific number of breeds to choose from (hypoallergenic ones). We ended up with Buster, a cockapoo (mix of cocker spaniel and poodle) puppy and he's quite a handful.
