just push it to a level where you're comfortable being at, you don't have to proove anything right out of the box. The only way to get better as a driver is small steps... gradually gaining the confidence and experience to go balls out

See... you need to make it to a get-together so we can meet you(and I don't make anymore mistakes! ). I have a hardtop, too, but like to take it off when autox'ing. I leave it on for the track.

I agree with Bill. Move at your own pace. All of us were new at one time. I don't think I made it through the course clean my first autox.

This club is small and doesn't put folks into traditional classes. It's a "make it through the course" kind of group. Very low pressure. Some of the board members are regulars with them.

I would recommend this group. I just got my car in January and did my first AutoX with this group a couple of weeks ago. I've also signed up for another one for this Saturday. Also signed up for two HPDE events for this month and June. So, it's really up to you what you want to do. I say just do it. You'll like it.

Auto-x is good fun. I've done it once and am looking forward to doing it again. Like they were talking about, take it in small steps. when I did it, I started with a 1:04 or something, and moved down to a :55 on my last of four runs. that was nowhere near the best time of the day, but I started learning the limits of the car.

with all the above comments. I just registered for this upcoming Saturday event @ Frederick also.

FYI for All - This Saturday's event registration is now "Open For All Drivers". Last time I checked it was "Open for Club Members only".
