Default Driving School Online to get back points

So I've been told recently that i should be taking a Virginia Voluntary 5 Safe Driving Points (Safe Driving Points)

Once passed the site will submit certification automatically to DMV
and i assume DMV will then give me 5 extra points?

has anyone else here taken this?

Also i believe this is separate from the court ordered driving test right? so if i get a ticket and the court ordred me to take a test to avoid points then i can still do that one as well?

please help!

Sounds like you like taking driving tests.

I think you can only take one test per year or every other year.

You can only take 1 voluntary driving improvement class every 2 years. School will give you a certificate and you have to take it to DMV to be credited 5 points.

If you you have already taken a court mandated driving improvement class, then you have to wait 2 years after that class to be qualified for 5 points credits. Taking a voluntary driving improvement class before that 2 years will be a waste of your money, unless.

A driver improvement clinic will give you +5 points on your record (up to +5) and can only be taken once a year and once ever other for CDL holders I believe. Whether it is voluntary or court ordered it can still only be taken 1 once a year. Once the course is completed they will automatically notify the DMV and give you a certificate.

I understand you can only take it once every 2 years. I've never taken these tests before. that's why I'm asking.

Here's what I would prefer to do:

option 1
Take the test today. They'll auto send the certification to DMV (so i dont have to take it to DMV myself). DMV will issue 5 pts back to me within 48 hours or so.

Just pay the fine online on Thursday and receive 3 pts back for speeding.

That should work out right? This saves me a trip to goto court.

option2
Or should I goto court, plead guilty and ask to take driving test (which they may not allow me) and then just take the test then?

I have taken a similar test in the past.

From what I understand, at least in the state of DE, the credit will come into play only when your license is up for suspension. For eg, if you only have 5 points now, DMV will not make your record to 0. If yours was 10 and 12 points = suspension, then the 5 credits come into play. Check with your DMV and your state rules and confirm this before you take the test.

good luck!

Interesting. I wonder if there is anything like that in MD. I'm not close to needing anything like that (knock on wood- my head) but would love to have something like that available should I need it.

this sound like a joke... how can taking a driving test take points away or credit you getting points?

if you get a speeding ticket .. you A) were in a rush? B) driving fast cause its fun or C) not payin attention.

how does a test make up for that.. doesnt mean ur not going to do it again or make you a better driver.

but i wish MD had smomthing like this too doesnt make sense to me but i like it!
