Alright...Life it seems has been extremely busy for me of late. Much of it has had to do [ FINALLY ] with our home beginning to be built. Even before that...but still recently..., however, the excavator was wrapping up clearing our property.
Keep in mind, we purchased this 22+ acre parcel one year ago nearly to the day now. March 2005. Then it took us crazy time to find an excavator we were happy with (i.e. reasonable $$$). And reasonable meant appreciating that clearing 10 acres would be done over weekends. Who knew that riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight after we ironed out an agreement with the excavator...Mo Nature would drop timely "rain...rain...snow...rain...dry (oops!, nope, mooooooooooore rain)... Cripes what a lousy winter to consider clearing . But the excavator persevered. Still, our final hurdle revolved around the intended driveway...and running it square over the lowest...most saturated part of the property. And while we hemmed and hawed about waiting for things to dry out, I finally pulled the trigger and just "threw rock" at the problem. Along with that, the excavator went out of his way to re-grade the property in this low area. Drainage is top notch now . Driveway is solid .
Once that drive was set...materials could come on-site and the erection could begin!!! . And with that....I offer some pics below. Presently, we're up to the framing you see. The roof trusses should arrive on-site next Wednesday. I figure I'll keep posting pics here as the house progresses.
And within a couple weeks, we should begin another erection on the property...Taska's horse barn. It'll be 4 stalls, everything in tongue-and-groove 2x4, with a wash stall, tack/feed room, a hay room, and a concrete broom-finished center aisle.
Rather small (but "right-sized" for us) at 1480-ish square feet. All on single level over a crawl space. 9-foot ceilings. Maaaaaaany windows. Big bay window over soaking tub in master bath. French doors out of master bedroom.
Oh...and the garage ... Yeah, that'll be 27' x 23' .
