Experiences with Honda Care and Differentials?
I was just curious if any mid-a members have any experience with this situation. Dropped it off sunday because noise was bad enough I didn't want to keep driving it. I was pretty sure it was the rear bearing from what I had read on here but the tech thinks its the differential. Service rep says he can't see why they would question it. He said when he called them to make them aware of the progress so far that they seemed ok with it. They will begin to tear it down monday. I'm just trying to get a rough idea what to expect. The only warranty I have is the certified used car warranty. I have about 47,000 on the car. Its was making a noise in the right rear when it was warm like break grinding. Didn't change when brakes were applies. Jacked up and right side had almost three times as much play as right side. Any info or help would be helpful.

Sounds like you're out of warranty...but that the dealer is gunning for you. That should bode well. My S blew a diff juuuuuust out of warranty. Honda Care would not help
...and I even attempted to work with H.C. on my own after the dealership tried to help. My dealership, however, was willing to cover half for me. That was good in my book as my diff experience was likely half a result of engine-braking (and I'll leave it at that
).
Best of luck to you. You did good to drop it off. If I were to have made any suggestion from my own experience it would have been this: I would have purchased an extended warranty...then stop by the dealership and let them look at my diff...and then I would have let the extended warranty coverage give me a replacement diff under warranty. Price would have been a wash...and then I'd also have the extended warranty in pocket for future issues with the car until it were to expire.
