Default Factory Tint

Is it true that S2000's have no tint from the factory? why is it that the popo consistently measures my tint @ 12%, when i paid for 20? if my formula is correct, this would mean my car had a factory tint of 60%..

I Believe all cars come with a factory tint. Its not a film but actually a UV protectant in the glass.

It's inside the glass. Super light.

20-12=8... which would mean it's 92%, where'd you get 60 from?

and yes, there is a tint to the windows from the factory but it's not a film like the 20% tint you had installed. i.e. the windows aren't 100% opaque.

Either way it doesn't matter... in VA it's 50% max and MD 35% so no matter where you're from it's still illegal.
i'm not sure the equation is that simple. if the factory windows allow x% of light to pass through, and I restrict that light to 20%, i should get the measured 12%. in short, measured tint / applied tint = factory tint.

i have no problem with it being illegal, but thanks anyway.

If you paid for 20% you obviously knew 20% was illegal in VA and MD?

I have 20% 3M tint and both times I've had it measured it was 23%. where's my other 3%? lol.

You paid for a tint that was not legal (20%). It turned out darker than you thought (12%). Unless you're having trouble seeing at night, what's the problem? Whether it was 20% or 12% you would still get a ticket. Correct?

I think you're original question was basically asking if the "factory tint" was enough to make a 20% tint film read as 12%, correct?

Sorry for the confusion.
