[QUOTE=dc_s2k,Nov 16 2010, 09:48 AM]You may also get yourself in trouble with trail braking if you don't have the foundation on which to layer it.

Some of what Rob recommends is advanced stuff that you should be trying on your 15th track day, not your 4th.

go to lots of events, then you will worry sooner.

in meantime, do like he says and reinforce good habits, good line, smooth turns, etc.

if you practice poorly going slow, it will make it almost impossible to go faster since you will have less time to correct for a mistake, and if you are offline going slow, merely going faster will most likely take you for a ride in the weeds or into a wall

Rob - How much do you reckon your car weighs?

I weighed it at the NASA event, 2890 with me & 5/8 tank of gas. It still has AC, air pump and cruise control to come out this winter.

Whoa... that looks WAY more fun than anything I've ever done with my S2000. Great laps and write-up man!

All I could think throughout the video is "I'm really not getting anywhere near the full potential out of my car."

Awesome write up, Rob. I need to keep this for next years' track day.
Thanks.

It depends how modified your car is. You may be pushing it more than you think.

I added some pics to the original post.

My car is almost stock. Light weight wheels, OEM hardtop, shorty intake and private label header. But the reason I say I'm not getting a lot out of it is because the most spirited driving I do with it is merging on and off of the highway, or an occasional drive down a few twisty roads. Nothing close to sliding corners and bouncing off of the fuel cut, lol.
