You won't notice the difference unless you bend down and look up at the inside fender lip, and even then you have to know what you're looking for. Don't do it for looks, do it for tire clearance. With proper wheel offset the rear handles 255's without rolling, and the front can handle 245's.
With the proper wheel offsets, you can run a lot more than a 255. My last set of wheels had 275 tires on them with room to spare. I could have run 285s if I wanted to. My fenders were completely 100% untouched and the car was about 2" lowered. It's all about offset. There's actually a good bit of room on an S2000.

Yea but weren't your last wheels HRE's? I here they are one of only a few companies that offer extremely high offsets that the S needs to get that wide of a tire.

Volk makes high offset wheels too. The problem is that high offset Volks don't have the concave face that everyone wants. You can get a 265 on a set of Volks for an S2000. If I remember correctly, they have a 17x9 +63 in most of their popular wheels. You can also get custom sized wheels that aren't as pricey as HREs. Work will build you an 18x10.5 with somewhere around a +70 offset if you'd like. That will clear a 285. CCW is another great wheel for the money that will get you any offset you need really.
