Default Friday At The Track Video

The FATT this Friday turned out great. The weather this time of year can be a gamble but we got lucky. It was cool in the morning but the sky was clear and the track warmed up quickly. The first Group 2 session was frustrating, I pitted in three times to get away from trains, but the next three sessions were a blast.

Here's a youtube link to the second session: youtube FATT video It happens about two minutes into the video. There's more video of the other sessions on youtube.

After the session a guy came by and asked if I had "gotten into it" with a blue Miata. He said he was following us when the Miata pointed me by and I passed but when I had to slow for another car it looked like the Miata got really close. I said I didn't remember anything like that but a little later I found some blue paint on my right rear bumper!

There was no damage just some blue paint on the bumper. I didn't hear or feel anything. After watching the video I saw where it happened. A blue Miata (one of twelve on the track) points me by on the Stonehouse Straight I pass on the left then get brake checked by a black 911 in The Hook Corner. That's when the Miata kissed my ass.

I'm just happy it wasn't more serious.

While I'm pasting images, here's a quick shot of the new garage, I'm still fitting out the interior:

Holy poop, that P-car was n00b. All over him through the turns and no point-by on the bridge straight. Looks like his car was bouncing quite a bit in the bowl despite the lower speed.

I would have thought you to have been solo'd. You've been on that track many times. Are they that strict on solo'ing?

Looke like it wasn't that bad of a hit. Glad your car was ok. When I was watching the clip of you following the Porsche, I thought you were going to start honking at him.

Very nice garage by the way. Nice lighting.

Not sure if your joking but FATT Group 2 mixes solo and instructor required (2i & 2s) cars on the track. The run groups at FATT are 1a, 1b, 2, and instructors.

The thought did cross my mind. I almost reached for the headlight stalk too.

Groups 1a and 1b were full and they were short instructors so they bumped 3 guys, including the black 911, into group 2i (instructor required). Two of them were very slow and didn't seem to know how to point by. It was very frustrating.

No, Rob. I have zero clue. From bits-n-pieces on here, it seems like you've done a lot of FATT's. I've seen you on the track, also. I put 2 and 2 together... that's all.

With this new knowledge, I will not even try to get in on the 18th.

Skip,

The event on the 18th is Solo only, so you wouldn't have to deal with the black 911 types. I don't know how they plan to set up groups but we should get a crap load of track time.
