Got pulled over for no reason in Fairfax county
So yesterday, I got pulled over for allegedly making a RIGHT turn on Red when there was nobody walking around, when there was a sign saying NO TURN ON RED... except, right underneath, it said, "WHEN PEDESTRIANS ARE PRESENT".
So I pointed that out to the apparently illiterate cop, and he said, "okay, license and registration" then said, "I'll be back after I copy your license".
I got out of the ticket of course, because he was wrong, and an idiot, might I add. (looked like a little kid / new on the job)... but my question is this, do you know if it is normal for them to take copies of our licenses? ...and do you think I had the right to take advantage of his pulling me over and wasting my time for NO reason?

i think whenever you get pulled over it goes on record, whether you were officially ticketed or not. and they always check out your record no matter what. i don't think they ever pull someone over, realize they don't deserve a ticket, and just leave the scene.

I won't delve into the mysteries of sub-paragraphs within our great Commonwealth's innumerable state codes ...but suffice it to say that our highways are not "ours." They belong to the State/Federal Government. Likewise, your driver's license is issued to you by the State. It does not *belong* to you...it belongs to the State. Your car... (...I bet you see where this is going?! )...well, yes, your car is yours - or the banks - BUT - it is REGISTERED (i.e. "Registration") to the State. So if at any time the State wishes to review the 'good citizenship' that you are and/or have exhibited in the past...it is quite able to do so (within one or another of its previously aforementioned innumerable sub-paragraphical state codes

Not true, I've been pulled over once and the cop never asked me for my license or registration and just let me go after talking to me.
Not True....
Fairfax County PD Officers are required to document every time they pull someone over. Other jurisdictions have the option. If you were pulled over and it wasn't documented.... oh well, you appearently got a lazy officer
