Well, Eric (the adjuster) took out the housing and examined it throughly. He couldn't find anything wrong with it. And his boss has a S2000 and they compared the housing together. Anyway, I told them if it's not right after the install, then I'll drop by.

That's cool. Sounds up and up then. And I guess, at least in word if not writing, you should have an out to stop back by and touch this topic after the fact if it continues to be a problem.

Ok, I just came back from the body shop. It's starting to get a little annoying. First, the job was a little delayed because the tire mounting dept. dropped one of my front rim and scratched it up. So they ordered a new rim and fixed it up. So I went today to pick up the car and I see that the repaired bumper has a gap with the problematic headlight housing. It still had condensation on it so I told the adjuster that I will take it to a dealer and if they find a problem with it, I wanted him to replace it. He said fine. Now with the bumper...I told the body man to redo it and fix it so that there is no freakin gap (1/4 inch gap) visible. They said it will be fixed by tomorrow. We'll see about that. It might be acceptable for some other owner with some other car, but not my S. You all know what I'm talking about.

I needed this rant...

There is a bracket...mounted with 4 - 10mm bolts...just below each headlamp. That bracket serves only one purpose: to act as a guide & shelf for the front bumper skin to rest flush under the headlamps. Assuming the headlamp itself is not broken and therefore misaligned due to broken mounting tabs (a thing you indicated the adjuster signed off on as okay), then the bracket may either still be bent, or it was mis-aligned when remounted. There can easily be 1/4" height variance possible simply by allowing that bracket to rest at its lowest possible point when the 4 - 10mm bolts are tightened...as to hold the bracket upward when tightening them down, and therefore raising the guide & the bracket's shelf so that the bumper skin rests more suitably within tolerance to the bottom edge of the headlamp.

As for that headlamp with condensation. Expect nothing less than a replacement. Obviously you have a headlamp that has been compromised by the accident.

Now...as far as me clearing them headlamps . Click my "w1ngman clears corners..." sig link for more information if you are truly interested in my services

See image below for reference to bracket. Bolts 3, 4, 6, & 7 are the 4 - 10mm bolts mentioned in my last post. The "guides" exist where the red oval markers are overlayed on the image. You can appreciate that, depending on how the bracket is oriented within the "play" that exists before the 4 - 10mm bolts are tightened down, there is room to adjust the bumper's proximity to the headlamp...and eliminate gaps.

Thanks Dave for your advise. I'm going to make sure that I get a replacement headlight housing.

Ok, I just got notified that the Grills have been delivered to my home. Is the install pretty straightforward? Is there anything not on the instruction sheet that I should be aware of? Thanks!
