Guest vs Member Status

Bottom line - I'm requesting that only paying members be allowed to organize meets. Obviously, the current COs would have to agree.

I encourage ANYONE to organize a meet, I was a guest for awhile myself, I went to a few meets, and saw how great this group is.
Buying a gold membership was worth it alone, all the money I saved from gaining the knowledge from this community was worth it alone.
The "state of the Mid-A" is everchanging, right now the car is more affordable to the newer driver, so this place gets flooded with new members. In '04 it was alot fewer members and less meets. I like the way it is now and would hope guests could help contribute to our community, and maybe one day help the site that provides so much knowledge and good times to them.

i feel like i should keep paying because i feel like i'm really apart of this and like to contribute my time and some money so i do...
the friendships, help, and knowledge alone is way worth the money.
i know alot of good people on here now and have very deep *giggity* relationships with them... Just because of a fricken car and a forum! to me thats worth the membership!

and what's with the "especially in the current state of the Mid-A." What was meant by that statement? The Mid-A is a big place and what current state are you referring to?
I pay yearly because I know that nothing is free, the people who run and started this site years ago arent doing it from federal stimulis money. By paying I am saying "I appreciate your good work and keep it up"

I understand what Deb is trying to say, although I'm not sure I totally agree.
I'm not sure whether one currently has a membership is a good guage of their participation level or the level of their contribution to the community. What about those of us who have been members in the past and have let it lapse for whatever reason? I believe I've been a member for at least two years and I've been with S2Ki for a looooooooong time. I hosted a Mod day at my house in Silver Spring a few years back, I'm not sure if I was a member at the time.
The membership fee, in my opinion, is less of a contribution to the community and more of a contribution to the owners of this site (perhaps because I know what kind of costs are really associate with keeping a site like this alive and see the types of sponsorship fees S2Ki charges to its vendors). I tend to put more weight into contributions people make to the community. In that sense, I actually think setting up meets and bringing life to the community is actually more valuable than membership fees.
Again, I do see what you are saying, but I can't agree that without S2Ki, there is no Mid-A. I think that it is much more appropriate to say that without the Mid-A (and every other region of course), there is no S2Ki.
I can use the forum I was a part of before S2Ki as a perfect example. I had a 99 Civic Si and was on ClubSi every day. Met some fantastic friends there and went back just a couple days ago to see what was going on. The site was up but it was a ghost town. Ther wasn't anyone posting in the northeast seciton, let alone setting up meets. The site was a shadow of its former self, but as obviously still able to run.
Our demographics are certainly changing, but I think the last thing we need to do is discourage people from contributing in any way. If the way they want to contribute is to set up or host meets, I think that's just fine!
