i think its mainly because its a honda in general.
Chicks dig topdown period... My NFR <~Best color for S2K was a head turner with just springs and wheels...
I drive an EVO now... I only get asked "what kinda car is that" or " You a racer???"
Before w/ the S "What's your number?" or "sexy ride"
I'm a member of the Playa Hater's club... After being with the DCEVOCLUB and going to meets and cruises, EVO vs STI hating has been like off the chain... Usually we both do the trash talk but evertime we meet they seem to shut up...
I would of kept the S2K, but the wife said something simple so I bought an EVO...

As for track bragging rights, less than 5%(probably closer to <2%) of the population will ever drive one lap on a road course. Because of that, I do not think there are many "other" owners who feel butt-hurt based on track experiences. People respond to others based on 1)stereotypes, 2) their education(whatever form it may be- not just academics), and 3) how they are confronted with a person or situation.
As for purchasing, most times folks will buy products based on what they can afford and not necessarily on what fits their needs. Since so few people actually take their vehicles to venues where performance characteristics become apparent, I do not see why most would buy an S2000 if they could afford a convertible 330i. The BMW is definitely more comfortable, sexier, and has more status.
And for yet another poster in this thread, oh yes, there have been "haters" on this site who have needlessly pointed fingers at other cars/owners. we as a community are not without fault there. There are a couple of things the S2000 does well, very well no matter the price, however, there are also many things the S2000 does not or cannot do.
