Default Help!!!! I'm Sceeeeeered!!!!

I'm not sure where to take my baby in for her first oil change. It has a little over 5k miles and the oil is getting dark. I planned on going to Herson's Honda, but they're telling me it's going to cost over $120.00 for the first service and then free for every other one. Does that sound right? Anyone with Herson's service experience? I'm ever so not trusting of dealers. They give me the creeps. I also did a search and couldn't find any specifics on their reputation. PLEASE HELP!!! My S needs her diaper changed really soon!!!

This is probably a very dumb arse question, but would Jiffy Lube or Pep Boys cut it for the oil change? I guess I'll have to invest in ramps and other DIY goodies soon. Sigh...

Yeah, it sounds right. RIGHT FOR A RIPOFF. I don't know if those bargains places would have the right oil filter.

Most services are inspections items. Check out what all the items are and either you or someone you know who is somewhat mechanical, do as much of the inspections as possible, then go to the Honda dealer and tell them SPECIFICALLY, that all you want are those items that you couldn't do. Give them the list and get an estimate from them. Unless the car has been acting up, there really isn't much to do on that first inspection. If they do not cooperate, then go to the Jiffy lube but with your own oil filter and request a specific type and kind of oil - 10W30, brand name like Penzoil, Castrol.

A place I used to work at had an offer like that. A 1 time fee of $150 and you got lifetime oil changes and state inspections. Also came with free towing, (10 miles I think), lifetime parts guarantee and free loaners. I could be the same type of deal there.

120 for a oil change?

I would check with the folks at Colemans.

Personally, my cars never return to the dealer unless something breaks under warranty.

The boobs at Jiffy Lube will just put in 4qts of oil...not sure I would take it there either.

Coleman's is a little high if you don't bring your own oil. Plus I hate to gripe just a bit, but the mechanics there aren't all up to snuff (they once put regular oil in my S instead of synthetic!!)

Oh and make sure anyplace you go uses fender mats or expect a big scratch on your fender.
