Default Help with squeak from rear

Hi,

There is a squeaking noise coming from the rear of my car. The dealership diagnosed it and said there is a nut or bolt loose in the rear control arm. They tell me they have to order a new one and to put it in will cost $500 plus. I think they are trying to rip me off, and I think if the bolt or whatever is tightened it will be ok. Can anyone help me? I would compensate for the work, but I think 500 bucks for a bolt and to do an our's worth of work is a rip off.

They are either lying to you about the bolt loose or they are trying to rip you off. Either way, suspension bolts don't usually come loose unless some poor service has been done before or you've had an accident. I would get a second opinion on this.

Could just be an old shock that's squeaking

After picking up my car, it is the brushing on my upper rear control arm that is cracked that is making the squeaking noises. I have no idea which part number it is.

My car is under warranty and I'm confused as to what's considered under warranty. I thought this would be and also, my top would not go up when I held the button and they charged me for that too.

me being a service consultant at a vw dealer my input is it seems like they are taking you for a ride man. with the squeaking noise and the malfunction in your top, that would be covered under vw warranty. ask to speak with the service director. maybe your adviser is taking you for a idiot, and trying to take you, because we get paid more for c.o.d then warranty. thats my $0.02
