Default Hey All,

Name's Wes, sold my beloved '95 Miata and bought my car about a month ago white/tan 16K on the clock. I have a few issues to work out - I think I've got the axle creak/pong noise and I was looking in the radiator space last night - it looks like the front part of the frame? has been modified/cut for some reason - I'll try and get some pics up on that. I also have a rattle/buzz from some sheet metal that occurs in the lower gears at about 3000 rpm - any ideas? Also considering an AEM CAI.

Oh, did I say these cars are a blast to drive

Removing the axle nuts, grease and retorqing them to 220 FTLBS has fixed the noise for a lot of folks

The Frame piece under the air cleaner box?

2004 did have the clutch buzz issue, hmm?

I want to say the buzz/rattle is some sort of sheet metal/guard but I haven't had the car up yet and of course I can't crawl under...

The "frame" if that's what it is is a bit odd - it's been modified identically on both ends - sortof as if someone was adding on to it - it's been done carefully and accurately tho...additionally, alott of the bolts holding the splash guard under the car are missing as well. Mine has the front lip "addition" is this something from the factory or owner installed?

I also have a small blue LED wit hno wires going to it just behind the steering wheel - maybe someone was going to install an alarm?

Heat shield on the header or cat maybe?

Needs pics of the frame to understand.

We've been going thru the throws of moving/building a house so I'll see if I can surface my camera and get some pics - if it's "factory" they cut right thru where a bolt would go that normally holds part of the interior black plastic "cowling" used to duct air thru the radiator...strange

They may have modified it for one of the air snorkels that came out of the front bumper near the radiator... one hood was specifically designed for that, others forced people to modify.

Not sure what you mean about them tacking on something to the frame itself, though... I wonder if you're simply looking at the stock welds and think it looks added on...

Since you've been responded to Wes, may I just say it is a wonderful blessing to see someone offer a greeting post and actually introduce themselves as you did in your OP above. I dunno but there is something quite satisfying for me in knowing the 'name' of the person online that I'm conversing with .

So hello Wes! And welcome to the Mid-A...and your new S2000
