See the problem is you never really know what may have happened before hand. There could have been a call for a vehicle matching your description. Could have been that because of the condition of the car that specific officer may of had a "hunch". I'm not saying it's right, but it definitely happens and we don't always know the reasons behind it. I saw this weekend for the first time a guy getting his car "sniffed" by the K-9 unit for reason of suspicion. You never really know what it could be that spurred the officers interest. And like Peter said, that cop would not have felt dumb after searching your car to find nothing. Most traffic stops are an opportunity to get in a car. Your lucky you didn't get a speeding or reckless ticket...rather just a minor violation.
with this statement... quite a few years ago, I was driving around and drove passed my friends place to see if she was home, she wasn't so I made a u-turn. about 3 blocks later, a cop pulls me over and says that I was speeding (this is about 5 blocks total from my parents house). Well, after 4 cop cars showed up (one was a highway patrol with the big floodlights on top that they put up to shine down on me), they apologized to me and said they were looking for someone who was robbing houses in the neighborhood.
I don't know how much crap I could have fit in the '86 740 turbo though.

Tint tickets in MD are usually just a fix-it order.

i believe illegal tint tickets are $50?

i got a question. if it was overcast, or not really all that sunny, would the device still measure it correctly?

It usually does. Those meters are pretty sensitive. However, if it looks like hell has decended upon us in the skies then more than likely there could be some error in the reading. But if it's just clouds then it has no affects.

Well the ticket was 86$= 30(Equipment Failure) +51 Processing Fees + 5(Other fee)

I know in the long run, it was better to get a tint ticket then getting a speeding/wreckless ticket. I guess I was just pissed because I have had my tint for almost 5 years now, been pulled over 3 times and its never been a big deal or any deal at all. With my tan interior, it dosent really even look that dark.

I just felt like the cop pulled the Uturn and knew we were all speeding and didnt get a reading on any of us, and picked me off the end cause he could pull me regardless.

As far searching cars as standard procedure. In my 9 years of driving I have been pulled over 6 (Only ticketed 3 times, 2 on my record) times and this is the first time that has ever happend. 4TheHeckofIt, am I correct to assume your a police officer? Is this becoming more and more of a standard practice these days? If I had some sort of charge on my record (and im not talking speeding tickets) I could understand more if I was asked. But I have a clean record, no arrest, no charges.

As far as the detector he used....It was plastic retangular box and kinda looked like a stud-finder with a slit down the middle of it. The slit went over the window, and the laser is transfered from one side of the box to the other. The display shows how much light is transfered from one side to the other.

it's cause you own an integra..... this automatically means you're a street racer and you're a bad kid... ... once you get you S, you won't have as much problems...
I won't have to worry about this at all in the S cause the top and the windows will be down every chance I get...

The big I put my windows up when I got on the highway not 3 miles before I got pulled over........

I'm actually a dumbass, according to others.. depends on who you talk to.

But anywho,.. as for certain police officers asking to search your vehicle, it all depends. Some officers are more proactive in their duties and some are lazy about it. It all depends on who you get.
