Off Topic but can't you folks just buy inspection stickers w/o your car ever leaving your garage? I know I can ................

And I've got a paint chip now that is freaking me out
Hmmm... Still don't understand (so perhaps its me). But the following sample of cars don't have sidemarkers. So it certainly seems to me like a sidemarker is not a requirement.

Now...I might have overlooked something in these samples that I'm unaware of. Certainly a few of them seem to have a "more-than-passive" forward amber side reflector (aka lighted). And in those instances, perhaps the lighted reflector blinks on and off when the turnsignal is actuated. However, there can be no denying that there are, indeed, many production cars that do not have a repeating side-marker forward of the A-pillar.
So were we to remove ours...how is that any different (provided our headlamp assembly offers a forward/profile amber turning indicator)?
And for those that would turn this conversation up an notch and ask about "clear corners" in general...and their alteration to the point that there is no amber turnsignal left...I would argue (and have passed safety inspection a number of years now without argument) that as long as the turnsignal bulb emits an amber indicator, which casts amber and is visible to traffic, that replacement diffusers don't kill the deal for turning indicators. What I will *not* argue here...is that it is probably within the scope of some law that there should be an amber passive reflector forward of the A-pillar (something a replacement diffuser does remove). However, it would be as easy as applying a passive amber reflector to the side of our vehicle forward of the A-pillar to accommodate such a notion...were a safety inspector to call it into question.

Steve, my stuff is also being shaved. I really like how your skirts look without the side markers. It gets rid of the "clutter."
Dave - I wasn't continuing anything with my last post, so don't be confused by it - I was having some fun with dave22.
I went ahead and called one of our inspectors just to ask him. He said there are some areas of the State Inspection books that are a tad grey - leaving room for interpretation with the Inspector himself.
In the case of the S2000: It does come with turn signal bulbs on the side, so removing these *could* rate a failed VA inspection in the eye of the inspector if he knew they were supposed to be there, and he was an A-Hole
So Dave, it is basically up to the inspector - whether or not he wants to take the 14 day return risk of getting in trouble.........and if someone does not understand that - VA state inspectors are liable for the car they inspect for 14 days after inspection. If you have a new inspection sticker and get a ticket for something out of VA guidelines within 14 days of that sticker being new, you and the inspector get in trouble (the inspector gets in much more trouble than you though
) - I've seen it happen......thus the Doomsday Inspectors that work for us.
Hope this helps.
