soo i got a police report on my soft top and the insurance company is having me go to a bodyshop so they can quote the damage, i want a hardtop instead so how would i go about doing this ? what should i tell my insurance company ?

PM dark knight. He will be able to help you. And yes, you should be able to get a check cut for the apraised value of damage and you can use it to purchase a hardtop.

In a nutshell - take your car to the insurance company's shop for the appraisal. Keep in mind, they work for the insurance company so they may go cheap on you. Once you get the quote.. decide if you're ok with that settlement, and then request they cut the check to you.

Go buy a hard top and enjoy.
