Default Maryland inspection problems

Hey guys, I'm having problems getting my newly acquired S2000 to pass Maryland inspection due to a tinted rear window. The previous owner had a tinted piece of plastic sewn in to replace the stock plastic window, and it's to dark to pass. No local upholstery shops will sewn in a clear one, they claim the only was is to replace the entire top. I definitely don't want to pay for a whole new top when the one i have is in like new condition.

My local "guaranteed pass for the right price" inspection guy is no longer doing inspections, and i can't find another station to cut me some slack. Douse anyone know where i could get the inspection paperwork by mail? If so please shoot me a PM. Hate to do it that way but I'm not looking to spend thousands to get the car to pass.

Thanks a lot, and hello from the eastern shore.

I didn't think any vehicles were required to have rear windows at all. Many vans certainly don't. How can you fail inspection for having your rear window too dark? (more of a question to anybody than to the OP)

Unfortunately this is not the case, though i wish it was.

See subsection (4) paragraph (a) subparagraph (i) of vehicle glazing. 11.14.02.14 Vehicle glazing

Wtf, so trucks and vans can black out their rear window, but not cars? (If I'm reading that correctly).
