Thanks all. I definitely intend to buy seat locks this time around. And I'm going to shoot for getting a glass window too. However, the insurance person I talked to on the phone said that since convertible tops are a "wear item", I may only get a pro-rated amount for replacement of the top. Have to wait and see. Extra nice that it rained today now that my top is sliced open .

Just as an FYI, the Arlington County cops make it a habit to dust for prints when a car is broken into. I didn't think they did that kind of thing, so I had opened the car when I saw it in the morning and poked around. In my case it didn't matter, since the print guy said he couldn't get any latent prints (most of the surfaces are plastic and leather, which don't hold prints well). But for future reference, Arlington folks should not touch their car if they found it broken into.

And I live near Shirlington Village, down by 395.

I do not have an alarm, since 99.99% of the time they just annoy everyone around. However, I may reconsider now.

not always ture. hehehe..... sometimes it's even worse and makes people come to the car...cause if they see a car with a nice alarm on it, they'll think it's got more goodies.....

Geeze Tedow, maybe if they pay off well for the seats you stick some used or aftermarket seats in it and get that supercharger you've been Jones'n for. There's got to be some way to turn this to your advantage.

The rectums had to pick on a nice guy too.

bummer guess i should really use the lock on my car cover more often. i think that would deter folks as well if they have to get throught that to even scope what you've got.

Tedow, if you have any questions about your seats and how the insurance will most likely deal with it, feel free to give me a call(540-226-9205) or PM me your number. Mine were stolen back in December- seats, shift knob. They didn't take my Alpine HU or my VAFC-II.

The seats are a $9k item.
No they are not. Seats are not available new as a whole unit. Honda only sells the pieces. The pieces total about $6500 and labor will run the total to about $7500.

I can tell you that an insurance company is not going to cut you or anyone else a check for that amount. They will search and find you a pair of seats for about $2500(or less) shipped. I am sad to have this information.

As for th etop and shift knob, I recommend that you get the shop that will be doing the repair work to allow you to supply your own parts. You can save enough to probably cover your deductible, assuming it's $250 for theft.

Get the top from HTG. I think it's about $900 from them versus whatever list is.
