Default My First Brake Maintenance

I went check my brakes yesterday after my first track day and this is what it looks like.

After a good wire brush to take off the white staff, this is what they all looks like.

I'm not sure what causes it to be like these but I'm guessing too much heat on the OEM brake pads .

Then brake rotors looks like this.

So I had it turned at Prime Automotive by Potomac Mills, 300th of an inch after.

And I sanded the brake pads lengthwise.

Finally put them back together.

Now it looks like new again Thanks for looking.

Holy Crap Ron...

Honestly... probably not necessary, but nice job!!!

Usually I just run pads till they break apart or wear out, and rotors till they crack.

Thanks Cale. It's an old habbit of mine when it comes to mentainance but not in car's engine (don't know much about it). I used to work on 600 lbs boiler, so my experience was mostly machineries .

Nice work Ron.

I don't think my rotors look anywhere near as bad as those did. Might just be the angle though.

Thanks Nick. The rotors are actualy shinier in person. I think it is what they called glazed over.

Nice work. Maybe I should look at getting mine turned because my S has to sit for a while sometimes.

Nice job Ron.

Just remember, you go a little bit faster and those OEM pads won't last a day on the track.

I am going though pads and rotors like butter this year.

Ron,
I hope you were wearing a dust mask while sanding those pads.

Nice job saving them, but like George said...... http://www.ctbrakes.com/

Ron, I have the Carbotech AX6.. and I know you liked my pads after you drove my car at the last AutoX. They seem to have plenty left after 2 track days and several AutoX's.
