There are loaners available at the track, however, I'd suggest you get one for yourself. This is so much fun, I think you will want to do it again, other than Summit, auto cross sounds fun, too. I am willing to participate in the local auto cross events next year. Besides that, I heard the loaners stink.

Most people pre-register the class, but some of us did showed up at the gate and signed up for the reserve slots. So far, I haven't heard any of us not able to get in. Its $175 pre registered, $185 at the gate. The event lasts from 9a till almost 5p.

Have fun

Wow, can't wait till spring. I'm getting my stook ready for storage. Hopefully if it doesn't rain, I'll drive it till snow falls.

BTW, can I just purchase any helmet at a local motorcycle shop, or are there different standards?

I might be getting a bike in the future and hope to use it for track and motorcycle.

Any tips is much appreciated.

I believe Snell 2000 is the latest rating standard for competition helmets. If its Snell 2000 approved, its good for both street and track. DOT approved helmets are good for the street, but some tracks do not accept them. I am not sure about Summit Point .... I myself got a new one thats Snell 2000 rated, so at least I know I won't be "out dated" anytime soon

OG Racing in Manassa, VA and www.helmetshop.com are both good places to shop for racing gears.

Check here for more information on Friday at the Track at Summit Point Raceway. You can phone ahead or register online. The schedule is here, and will probably be updated with the spring dates in the near future.
