Default Navy Yard shootings

I can't believe it. I'm home on vacation today and I got up and turned on the news and I saw there was "an active shooting" going on in the Navy Yard. As I sat there dumbfounded I saw pix of Emergency vehicles wisking by the Starbucks on M street that I used to frequent on my days off when I lived in the area. It's crazy cause I just moved from there about six weeks ago.
It's so surreal. I was on a rooftop in NY and saw the World Trade Center fall and now this. A sad commentary on our time.

I work with a bunch of people up there on a regular basis. Praying for everybody's safety and for those that were lost.

My +1 works there but was at his company's office up the street so hadn't gotten there yet. He saw all the commotion and called me to check what was going on. I saw stuff online first, the TV about 15 min later. Very sad.

It's kind of unrelated but, I'm done with listening to music while I walk around the city. I think its important to be able to hear whats going on around me rather than be entertained for the maximum of ten minutes while I walk from building to building through out the day. There are too many variables in today's world, at least this is one that I can control

The area is coming around slowly. The Nats stadium and a better economy have spurred development. Walk to restaurants on 8th St SE. Can walk to a couple of Metro stops besides Navy Yard (Capitol South, Eastern Market) if you want some exercise and to avoid changing trains to the Blue/Orange.
