Default Need some opinions

I picked up a used invidia exhaust not too long ago; Im not a fan of super shiny exhausts simply because I dont take the time to clean them. I like the way a clean exhaust looks on a car but for me personally its not worth constantly cleaning off road debris.
So I was thinking about 'painting' the exhaust flat-black. I am not looking for bling or any unwanted attention (the noise will be somewhat taken car off when I put the stock resonator (or equiv.) on the invidia).
I've seen a few flat black exhausts before and they looked pretty good, and different. I am considering doing a temporary high-temp paint first and if I like it then later going to a powdercoat.

So what opinions are out there, I know there will be alot of "ew, no way"'s but I am not trying to please them all.

I'm also considering sending out a header I jsut picked up to be jet-hot coated (inside and out) for sheer engine bay' looks since SS tends to look like it flakes apart after being subject to high heat.

If anyone knows of any pics of s2000's with flat black exhausts then please post them up!

Why not just leave the tips dirty? That has the same effect, but it's reversible if you want them shiny again.

It wont be as dark that way and it will just look very dirty.

A dark flat black should look 'cleaner' then just leaving it dirty and it should be just as easy to clean up as if I were to shine the exhaust up (just use some paint thinner).

Im going to look at some paints today to see what my options on the black are.

Hmmm... can't say I've ever seen anything like that. Do you have some kind of cheap aftermarket header? Also, the F20C runs hot. Jet-Hot coating it causes it to retain more heat to allow exhaust gases to flow faster. Somewhere on this board I remember reading about the header deteriorating rapidly and cracking after being coated.

I guess it doesnt really flake but it looks like that with the coloration change. That or maybe some companies use a coating to make it more shiny and this is what looks odd. The header I am talking about is a SS dc sports. I've also seen it on other ss headers.

As for the jet hot, yes it can cause the metal to break down faster if its only applied to the outside. Applying it to both the outside and inside will somewhat eliminate that issue. The header should still outlive the car.

This is all still up in the air. I dont have the header as of right now and I have yet to paint the exhaust.

my brother painted his apexi n1 muffler on his integra. it actually looked pretty cool. the main reason he did it wasn't for looks but because of the 5-0 in my country town they like to just pull civics and integras over just because of the grapefruit launchers

lmao!

That also carries some of the reason as to why I am doing it.

There are some exhausts that wouldn't look right and some that would. Something as nice as a J's system I'm not sure I could go through with it.

my JIC sits up under my bumper well enough that it isn't flashy. plus it's not really angled like the invidia's are. and its a little on the dullside in color which i like
