No luck with CF lately
Beginning of June, an idiot backed into my fiberglass front bumper at a Taco Bell drive through - he didn't want to wait in line anymore so he throws his car in reverse and floors it without looking behind him. His insurance cuts me a check and I bought the Carbon Creations Type J bumper from a private party who used a 3rd party to ship the bumper to me. The new bumper was shipped in 3-4 layers of bubble wrap ONLY, no box
. I unwrapped the bumper and found cracks around the driver's headlamp area. Shipper filed a claim with FedEx and their claims reviewer estimates that the bumper is only worth $200 (even with $800 insured shipping and $799 price quote for a new bumper). Still waiting for FedEx to make a final decision. I just want to be able to drive around without a busted-ass bumper.

Now for the latest CF trouble: Last week, I ordered a Seibon Type J cooling plate from S2 Carbon Works (last one they had in stock). I called earlier last week and explained that I was going to be out of town this weekend, so could they ship it so that it would arrive Monday or today; they said sure. This morning, I e-mailed Jeremy@S2CW and asked for the tracking number. His reply? When I ordered the cooling plate, he set it aside for me but a fellow salesman shipped it out to another customer. It will be at least 2 months before getting more cooling plates in stock (at S2CW, Evasive, and other places as well). I requested a refund and am still waiting for the money to return to my bank. I was really looking forward to this cooling plate since it feeds into the OEM air box. I had replaced my AEM CAI with a stock box before heading to DC this past weekend just to prep it for the arrival of the plate yesterday/today.

Maybe this is an omen telling me to stop buying CF parts. The only luck I've had with CF since buying my Seibon hood (from Jason in Moyock) last year is the coil cover (from Ong) and the crossmember cover (from lazyjet).
Alright, enough out of me. I feel better already - I just don't know what helped, this venting or from drinking the Coronas from Rob...

Cracked. I was going to have someone try to fix it then throw some Rio around the headlamp areas to blend in with my fenders, but that's gonna cost ~$300.
I was looking at Chaser's CW bumper and am starting to like that better than the Type J. So, if FedEx decides to give me money instead of replacing the bumper, I'll drive up to Maryland and checkout their quality and fitment. I know, I know, I've read a lot about Chaser, but I'm willing to drive there to see if they've done a turn around on their customer service and product quality.

Sorry to hear that but, if I was u, I would rather wait for the new shipment. It allow u to have more time to get your money back and more time to think about more of which way u Want to go...I'm gonna change up my car come next year if I don't go back to Thailand. That leave 3-4g to spend. You should wait til winter to order parts and install it come March just so it be a fresh look for 2011. But that's just my opinion
glw FedX and on up coming parts
